This Department founded in 1947 has the distinction of being the first in the entire region of North Karnataka. Apart from its pioneering achievements, the alumni of the Civil Engineering Department have been successful professionals who have carved a niche for themselves, throughout the world. Apart from a distinguished faculty, the Department has well-equipped laboratories and other support infrastructure that is constantly upgraded to adapt to changing technologies.

An array of sophisticated facilities in areas such as ETABS, SAP 2000, ZWCAD. FEA, GIS, Pavement Research Environmental Engineering and Geotechnical Engineering ensure that students benefit from a comprehensive and extremely professional method of education. Constant appraisal and feedback combined with a system of counselling, monitors the progress of each student. The Society of Civil Engineers provides an active forum that extends beyond the curriculum.
